The Discover Farming Centre
Run by the Melplash Agricultural Society at Washingpool Farm, helps local children and young people understand food, farming, how to eat healthily and to learn about careers in farming, agriculture and related industries. Whole classes from primary and secondary schools are welcome.
Is an informal group of like-minded people organising local food related work days and pop up awareness raising stalls plus the annual Potato Day in February and Grow Your Own Plant Giveaway in May.
Borough Gardens Veg-beds
Wonderland Nursery works with volunteers to tend this small but beautiful vegetable garden. The three beds including vegetables, soft fruit and herbs, provide bountiful opportunities for the children to experience food’s journey from seed to plate. The group meets for planting/harvesting and eating several times in the growing season.
Bridport Local Food Group

Bridport Seed Swap
This annual event allows local gardeners to swap their saved and surplus seeds, gardening tips and tales. We meet usually on the second Saturday in February at the Ropemakers Inn, West Street between 10-12. (12.02.16) No need to bring spare seeds along, there’s always plenty for everyone in exchange for a drink at the bar!
Princess Road Community Allotment
Was born from a need for families from the Magna flats in Skilling to have a space to grow their own vegetables and enjoy fresh air and outdoor activities with their young children. In our first year we have fresh veg, slimmer waistlines and children full of homemade smoothies! New recruits are very welcome!
The Grow Team
Offers vulnerable adults with mental health support needs and/or learning disabilities the opportunity to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers on a patchwork of allotments in Bridport. We provide a safe and nurturing environment that fosters achievement and a sense of belonging. Everyone involved contributes their time, skills and energy, and takes home a share of the harvest.
